What is Future Design?
Future Design was developed by a group of Japanese economists led by Tatsuyoshi Saijo and inspired by the seven-generation thinking of the Haudenosaunee Confederation. By giving future generations a voice in decision-making, Future Design brings the future to life.
Future Design is both a movement and a practical approach. It focuses on creating (social) systems that keep the world livable for current and future generations.
In Japan, it has already been used to write an integrated long-term plan for a city, a plan for a future-proof energy system, the redesign of a city hall and a city administration, among other things.

Read here in which sectors and for which challenges we have applied Future Design.
With Future Design, we look through the eyes of future generations to gain new insights into today’s choices. Together, we map out which issues stand in the way of your team or organisation making real long-term choices and explore opportunities for transformation.
.
Our goal
Future Design gives participants the opportunity to critically question current practices and look beyond today’s interests and concerns. The future perspective offers room for creative, innovative and solution-oriented ideas. In this way, Future Design can contribute to long-term value creation and a sustainable and just society.
Give the future a voice in the present and your organisation a voice in the future.
